A few months back, BMW had hinted us that all plans were in place to debut the Mini in India. Now, the car maker has told The Economic Times that they will launch the Mini in the next couple of months. Next year we will see other premium car makers entering this segment with their products. But, it is BMW who will roll the dice first, yet again. BMW will open two new exclusive showrooms in Delhi and Mumbai which will also offer sports packages and accessories to its customers.
Mercedes-Benz and Audi too have plans to enter the entry-level luxury segment. Mercedes-Benz will launch the B-Class in India while Audi is pondering the A3 saloon. Audi is expected to price the A3 saloon around the Rs 20 lakh mark which is peanuts compared to the Mini which could exceed Rs 25 lakh. Also, it will be interesting to see how Mercedes-Benz price the B-Class which will more practical compared to the Mini. The Volkswagen Beetle costs around Rs 20 lakh and we think the Mini should also be priced a notch lower. Now the competition start between Volkswagen beetle and Mini
