Audi A1

Audi A1 grows two extra doors

While Fiat is still talking about getting a five-door version of the 500, Audi has put its money where its mouth is and got the five-door version of the recently launched A1.

The car looks similar to its three-door variant, but is now a few millimeters taller, this according to Audi has freed up head and shoulder room for the back occupants. The A1 is a strict four seater while a fifth seat is an option. Boot is generous for this tiny hatch and offers a loading capacity of 270litres.  Obviously you wont be buying a A1 to transport huge luggage, but incase you decide to do so just flip the back seat and boot capacity increases to 920 litres.

There are 12 colours on the pallet to choose from, and if you feel experimental, or Mini-ish, there is a dual tone option also available.
There will be three petrol and three diesel variants on sale. The petrol 1.2 TFSI pumps 85bhp, while the 1.4 TFSI comes in 121bhp and 181bhp super-charged and turbocharged version. The 1.6 TDI will also come in 89bhp and 121bhp variants. A 2.0 TDI sporting 142bhp will go on sale soon after the A1 five-door hits Europe early next year.

Though chances are slim that the A1 will ever make it to India, thanks to its Rs 11 lakh starting price (import duty excluded). Be sure to catch a glimpse of this cute hatch at the 2012 auto expo.
