Honda Brio arrives

If you’ve been waiting for the festive season to buy a new small car, then the all new Brio seems to be worth the wait. With prices starting at Rs 3.95 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) for the base E version, it is by-and-large the most affordable Honda car yet.

The base version doesn't seem all that 'base' by small car standards. It gets a power steering, air-conditioning and front power windows as standard. The next in line S version retails for Rs 4.35 lakh and gets an integrated audio system with USB and Aux-in along with steering-mounted audio controls as notable extras. You also get the S (option pack) at Rs 4.90 lakh which gets safety kit like ABS and twin airbags as standard fare. The top-of-the line V version comes for Rs 5.10 lakh. The V version gets alloy wheels and dual tone beige interiors as standard but automatic climate control is still missing.

Power comes from the same 1.2-litre engine that is found on the Jazz. It produces 88ps of power and 109NM torque. Honda claims that the competitive pricing is due to the high level of localization which currently stands at 80 per cent and will go up to 90 per cent in the coming months.

Update: The Mumbai ex-showroom prices have been announced as  Rs 4.19 for E, Rs 4.62 for S and Rs 5.42 lakh for the V variant. S(O) optional pack for Rs 5.21 lakh.
