It look like big, chunky off-roaders, but are as easy to drive and economical as a family hatchback . The Q3 is a five-door compact coupe crossover by Audi that has to debut commercially in 2011. It is the smallest SUV by Audi and is hoped to be followed by a sibling Audi Q1 in the 2012.

Production of the Audi Q3 started in the first half of 2011. The compact, sporty SUV is built on ultramodern facilities at the SEAT plant in Martorell, Spain. The operations are geared up to an annual capacity of more than 100,000 vehicles.
An entirely new body shop and a new assembly line were erected for the Audi Q3 in 2009 and 2010. Total capital investments for the production of the Audi Q3 in Martorell amount to more than EUR 300 million.
Production – expanding the manufacturing network
Martorell is the headquarters of the Volkswagen Group brand SEAT. Building the Audi Q3 in Martorell will add a further building block to AUDI AG’s production network and represents part of its growth strategy. The urbane off-roader will be built there with high levels of flexibility to comply with Audi’s quality standards.
Audi plans to launch its model Q3 in India in 2012 as it looks to achieve about 40 per cent growth in sales in 2012. The company will showcase the two models at the upcoming Auto Expo next month in the national capital.
The big rival of Q3 are X1 and MINI Countryman and Range Rover Evoque .
