Porfirio Rubirosa's 500 Mondial revealed by ferrari :Maranello, 9 June – The Ferrari Classiche Department has just completed the restoration of the 1954 Ferrari 500 Mondial Spyder PF originally owned by Dominican gentleman driver Porfirio Rubirosa. A great ladies’ man, the latter also dallied with some of the world’s most beautiful women, not least Marilyn Monroe, Ava Gardner, Rita Hayworth, Veronica Lake, Kim Novak, Eva Peron and Zsa Zsa Gabor who posed with him in the car. Rubirosa drove the car in just a single international race at Santa Barbara in September 1954. Sporting the number 235, the 500 Mondial finished eighth overall and second in its category but, by the end of the year, had been sold to American John Von Neumann from Hollywood. One of the car’s fans was none other than James Dean who stopped to admire it before a race and wanted to get behind its wheel.

Second career.
 After its retirement, the car became a collector’s item and changed hands several times. Its present owner, California Tom Peck, sent it to the Ferrari Classiche Department for a full restoration that included the installation of a new version of its original engine to ensure it complied with its construction specifications and could thus be issued with a Certificate of Authenticity. His ultimate goal, however, is ambitious: to compete in the Concours d’Elegance at Pebble Beach in California, in August. That prestige event was won in 2014 by the Ferrari 375 MM Coupé once owned by film director Roberto Rossellini.

On 26 March, 2015, Irvine CA – Aston Martin’s most intense and thrilling creation to date has maked its first appearance in North America at the New York International Auto Show (NYIAS).

The Aston Martin Vulcan – a track only supercar producing some 800-plus bhp – joins the British luxury sports car maker’s presence at NYIAS fresh from a global reveal at the Geneva International Motor Show earlier in March.

Fronting a new seven-car display led by CEO Dr Andy Palmer, the Aston Martin Vulcan will be joined by examples from the current Aston Martin product range in North America including the new Vanquish Carbon, Rapide S, DB9, V12 Vantage S and the V8 Vantage GT Roadster.

In order to provide a foundation for the new autonomous F 015 Luxury in Motion research vehicle, an interdisciplinary team of experts from Mercedes-Benz has devised a future scenario that incorporates many different aspects of day-to-day mobility. Above and beyond its mobility function, this scenario perceives the motor car as a private retreat that additionally offers an important added value for society at large.

“Anyone who focuses exclusively on the technology has not yet grasped how autonomous driving will change our society,” emphasises Dr Dieter Zetsche, Chairman of the Board of Management of Daimler AG and Head of Mercedes-Benz Cars. “The car is growing beyond its role as a mere means of transport and will ultimately become a mobile living space.”

1,100 kilometres of zero-emission driving.

The electric hybrid system has a total range of 1,100 kilometres, including around 200 kilometres of battery-powered driving and around 900 kilometres on the electricity from the fuel cell.

This enables the F 015 Luxury in Motion to cover distances similar to those of a comparable diesel-engined car, but purely on electric power with zero local emissions.

MASERATI QUATTROPORTE S Q4 and GTS 2015

Italian manufacturer's most noteworthy Trident model to be displayed in LA next week  the revised Quattroporte, the S Q4 and GTS trims of which are treated to some enhancements for the 2015 model year. The top-spec Quattroporte GTS in particular "benefits from a sportier and aggressive appearance," highlighted by color-matched lower bodywork, an updated emblem, red accents on the wheels and upgraded equipment inside, including red leather upholstery, contrast stitching, piano black trim and integrated wifi.

For 2015, the smaller Ghibli sedan also gets standard navigation and Bluetooth connectivity, as well as a new finish for the brake calipers. Maserati will also showcase the GranTurismo MC Centennial Editions, as well as the Alfieri concept originally unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show (new images of which we've included below). Finally, the Petersen Automotive Museum is also collaborating with the Italian automaker to display an array of historic Maseratis in the West Hall lobby of the Los Angeles Convention Center. 

Maserati has always been famed for its innovative engine design: in this respect the new 3.8 litre twin turbo V8 installed on the Quattroporte sets new standards, with a long list of sophisticated solutions that make this the most high-tech propulsion unit ever installed on a Maserati car. With its 530 HP, it takes the Quattroporte past the 300 km/h threshold with ease.

ASTON MARTIN LAGONDA

ASTON MARTIN CONFIRMS BESPOKE SUPER SALOON: THE FINEST OF FAST CARS

Gaydon: Aston Martin was  confirmed a bespoke product programme for a new super saloon that will see the revival of the historic Lagonda nameplate in a strictly limited series.

Aston Martin has produced the first suite of images of its gorgeous Lagonda hyperluxury sedan in production form. This follows the release of photos of a prototype test vehicle in Oman a month ago, which followed an embarrassing photo drop of the same car by Oman Air shortly after it arrived in the Middle Eastern country. Turns out the Lagonda is just as beautiful sitting in front of a glass wall (and next to its most recent predecessor) as it is bombing through the Omani desert.

As has traditionally been the case, the Lagonda badge will once again sit proudly on a luxurious and exclusive super saloon.

The architecture of the Lagonda’s interior is pretty much taken straight from the Rapide, although, thanks to the Lagonda’s flatter roof line and longer wheelbase, passengers in the two rear seats should have significantly more head and leg room.

Aston Martin has yet to fully detail the car’s mechanical package, but it’s known that the Lagonda is based on the company’s VH architecture.

The five-door 2015 Rapide S, which also rides on the same underpinnings, features a 5.9-litre V12 pumping out 412kW of power and 630Nm of torque to the rear wheels via an eight-speed automatic transmission. The Rapide S has a claimed 0-100km/h time of 4.4 seconds.

Reports indicate that the Lagonda sedan can hit speeds of more than 280km/h.

The stunning luxury super saloon revives the Lagonda ethos of ‘the finest of fast cars’ and will be offered exclusively in the Middle East, as a result of specific market demand.

Exterior : The exterior hardly differs from the prototype vehicle that was shown off earlier by both Oman Air and Aston Martin during hot weather testing in the desert.
According to Autocar, the Lagonda wears a suit made from carbon fibre-reinforced plastic and is a much larger beast than the Rapide S that it’s closely related to.

With a body that stretches out over almost 5.4 metres and sitting on a 3.19m wheelbase, the Lagonda is 378mm longer end-to-end than the Rapide S and features an extra 199mm between the wheels. Unlike the Rapide, the Lagonda is a true sedan, with a flip-up boot lid.

With its go –anywhere capability and 5+2 seat versatility all in compact SUV form – it takes a pretty special event to launch the newest member of the Land Rover family to the world on September 2^nd Tuesday.

Like all range Rover vehicles, the Discovery Sports was put Through an extensive testing regime. Discovery Sport prototypes covered approximately 750,000 miles during the testing phase, in some of world’s harshest and most challenging terrains and climates. A total of 181 prototype vehicles were built, competing over 11,000 tests over their lifetimes around the globe.

MICHELIN HAS EMPHASIZED ITS ASSURANCE TO THE FIA WORLD RALLY CHAMPIONSHIP BY EXTENDING ITS OFFICIAL TYRE SUPPLIER AGREEMENT TO THE END OF 2016.

The French firm has been a partner of the WRC since it took over from Pirelli in 2011 and supplies tyres to most of the rally teams.
The new deal will bring more Michelin branding to WRC stages, to television coverage and the WRC’s digital services. Michelin will also continue to use WRC content in its own promotions.  

Pascal Couasnon, Michelin Motorsport director said: “This extension of our partnership with WRC was a logical step for us to take. The FIA World Rally Championship offers an authentic environment for Michelin to demonstrate the quality and endurance of our tyres, often under the most extreme conditions.”

Recent WRC viewing figures and a sporting season that runs from January to November had also impressed Couasnon. 

“This cooperation also facilitates a significant global media visibility throughout almost the entire year,” he explained. “In 2013, more than 600 million fans worldwide followed the WRC on TV and more than three million visited the rallies on site. These numbers speak for themselves and we are waiting for other improvement”. 

Oliver Ciesla, managing director of WRC Promoter, said: “We are delighted to continue to have Michelin at our side as a partner. We can guarantee Michelin an attractive environment at the stages, in the service park and on television.

The Aston Martin DP-100

The Aston Martin DP-100    is a  new dazzling addition to Gran Turismo 6 .

It is developed by the Aston Martin design team, DP-100 Vision Gran Turismo is a new, virtual-only GT racer available for Gran Turismo 6 (GT6™) owners to download in July 2014, following its global launch at the Goodwood Festival of Speed.

The twin-turbo mid-engined racer offers up to 800bhp, endowing it with blistering performance fully in keeping with the high octane nature of the game.
The Aston martin's Design Director Marek Reichman said that “DP-100 has been an exiting and intensive project for the team here at Gaydon.

“Feratures such as the car’s revolutionary ‘active aerodynamics’ are there  not just a way of enhancing form, but also to support the car’s function in-game.”

Vented wheel Arches : Designed in GT racer style, it reduce drag and improve handling at high speed.

Creation
