Mahindra displays its SsangYong range

Mahindra was out in full force at the Auto Expo showcasing its entire product range. The Genio crew cab pickup and the Verito electric hybrid concept apart from their latest offering – XUV 500 stood out from their Indian range. Updated trucks from the Navistar range were also on display, but it was SsangYong that was the star of the show with its SUVs and concept vehicles.

On showcase were four cars – Rexton, Korando E, Actyon Sports and the XIV-1 Concept. It was revealed that it is the Rexton that will be hitting the Indian market first and soon. The Rexton is a premium SUV that seats seven. While it is imposing, we felt the Rexton has to have an aggressive face in order to really pull in the buyers. It is powered by a 2.7-litre common rail diesel that puts out 184bhp and 402Nm of torque and will be available in four-wheel drive.

At the other end was the Korando E and we have to say it was one of the most attractive looking vehicles at the exhibitions. The Korando E is an all-electric sport utility vehicle based on the Korando C, which was shown in the 2010 Busan Motor Show. There was also the XIV-1 concept – a vision of the next generation crossover.

Last but not the least was the good-looking Actyon Sports four-wheel drive pickup truck. Hopefully, this one too will make it to the market soon.
